O R F Austria Orders Studer Vista 8
November 29, 2004
Austrian national broadcaster ORF has placed an order for a Studer Vista 8 digital broadcast console, destined for installation in a 5.1 radio production suite, currently undergoing major acoustic refurbishment.
The desk will be delivered to the Funkhaus Wien, home to ORF's radio stations, where it will fill a multiple role, being used for live applications, such as recording of concerts in the “grosse Funkhaus Sendesaal”, mastering applications as well as general radio production work. The Vista 8 fitted with 22 faders, is prewired for future extension to 32 faders. The VISTA 8 was chosen by ORF because of its versatility for a multitude of applications and ease of use, thanks to Vistonics.
ORF is already using Studer digital consoles extensively. Five Studer D950 large frame digital mixers are installed in OB vans used for recording and mixing of classical music live events such as the Salzburg Music festivities in Salzburg, one OB van is stationed in Vienna, one is in Graz. Two more D950’s are used for drama production in Vienna and Graz and a further 40 fader D950 is installed in ORF’s studio in the famous Musikvereinssaal in Vienna from where the New Year’s Concert played by the great Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is produced and transmitted every year around the globe.
Once the Vista 8 is installed in Vienna, it will share the audio stage boxes with the D950, making sound sources accessible from all the different locations to all mixers, and mixing and production will be possible with different desks in different locations.
